A personal project exploring expressive typography and visual contrast. I selected phrases from vintage rave flyers “A World Beyond,” “Skewed Nocturnal Satisfaction,” and “Freedom: Return of the Hardcore” and reinterpreted them through a contemporary typographic lens.

Each composition combines multiple typefaces that I customised, distorted, and layered to create abstract, energetic letterforms. To offset the modern typography, I paired it with found vintage illustrations from Unsplash, creating a visual tension between nostalgia and futurism.

The project became an experiment in typographic form-making, stylistic clashes, and the reinterpretation of subcultural language. The end results were 3 layouts using each phrase you can see below.
