The Essential Experience

The Essential Experience

Prints created by rave flyers.

In focus

This personal project grew out of my fascination with the visual language of rave culture. When working on event posters, I often look to vintage rave flyers for inspiration, their bold typography, experimental layouts, and vibrant energy capture a spirit of freedom and community that still feels fresh today.

After collecting several books by Copla Press featuring rave flyers from London, New York, and L.A, I was inspired to create a series of collage prints.

The process

Using material from these archives, I assembled new compositions that celebrate the graphic chaos and exuberance of that era while exploring how these aesthetics can be reinterpreted in a contemporary context. I then added some rave flyer inspired copy
‘The essential experience’ and ‘Things are not always as they seem’ remixed that with the typography style from the Happy Monday’s record sleeve ‘Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches’ and the prints were born!

Here you can see the process and results.
